“Sanjai Kumar Singh (I.P. Singh):Transforming Rural Education and Welfare”
Naincy Convent Educational and Social Welfare Society, based in Jeolikote, Nainital, Uttarakhand, was founded in 1993 with a vision to uplift rural communities through education and social welfare initiatives. The society’s founder, Itendra Pal Singh, began his journey in 1995 by establishing a residential school in Jeolikote with only 13 students in a rented building. Over the years, the school grew, and today it accommodates 120 students, with plans to increase the capacity to 150 students post-pandemic.
The school’s success is a testament to the society’s dedication to educating and empowering the rural youth of the region. In 2007, he expanded the society’s initiatives by establishing the Naincy College of Nursing, the first professional nursing college in the Kumaon region. Starting with just 37 students, the college now accommodates 500 female boarders. The society also launched the Naincy Institute of Management and the Naincy College of Hotel Management, both of which operated until 2011. These institutions aimed to provide vocational training and professional education to the youth, equipping them with the skills necessary for a successful career. The Naincy Convent Educational and Social Welfare Society’s mission extends beyond education. Its core activities include rural rehabilitation, vocational training for rural youth, health awareness programs, disability support, and initiatives for the deaf and mute.
The society has made significant strides in various fields, such as plantation, road construction, and raising awareness about health issues in underserved communities. By focusing on areas where services are scarce, the society has worked tirelessly to meet the needs of vulnerable populations. Looking ahead, the society is committed to improving the quality of its services. This goal will be achieved through the implementation of effective management practices, the recruitment of skilled staff, and the involvement of the community and other stakeholders in the process. The society’s growth has been made possible by the unwavering support of its members, staff, and the local community. In addition to his work in education, he has ventured into the business sector. In 2014, he launched a print and packaging factory in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, with an annual turnover of Rs 5 crore. Unfortunately, due to health issues and fraudulent activities by a director, the business incurred financial losses and was classified as a Non-Performing Asset (NPA), with a loan amount of Rs 21.77 crore.
Despite this setback, Singh remains optimistic and confident that his total revenue will reach Rs 18 crore annually within a year, driven by the growing enrollment at his school. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his contributions to education and social welfare. He was honored with the Kumaun Shree Award by the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, and the Shiksha Ratna Award in Thailand by the Dainik Jagran Group. The society’s registered office is located in Jeolikote, Nainital, and is affiliated with prominent bodies such as the Indian Nursing Council, the State Nursing Council of Dehradun, and Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical University. The Naincy Convent Educational and Social Welfare Society continues to make strides in providing quality education and services, with a dedicated focus on empowering rural youth and improving the lives of those in need.
