Prof. Dr. Anand Shukla’s Multifaceted Journey in Healthcare and Research
Professor Dr. Anand Shukla, a distinguished medical professional with a plethora of qualifications including MBBS, MD, PhD, DSc, DPHV (ICRI), and FCLR (Apollo Hospital), currently serves as an Additional Professor in Pharmacology & Pharmacovigilance at Subharti Medical College & University in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. He obtained his MBBS and MD Pharmacology degrees in 1991 from MLNMC Allahabad University, Uttar Pradesh. He further honed his expertise as a Senior Resident and research officer in the Pharmacology department at Lady Harding Medical College before embarking on a career as a freelance medical journalist and health expert for social TV media at SLARC Subharti Medical Care.
His illustrious career is marked by significant contributions in various fields of medical research and practice. Notably, he underwent Emergency Medicine training and pursued a fellowship in clinical research and oncology for geriatric patients at Apollo Hospital in New Delhi. His research endeavors have encompassed diverse areas, including longevity research in lifestyle diseases conducted at Fiji University, Fiji Islands, and studies on bioterrorism in mega cities published in collaboration with Delhi University’s disaster management program.
Furthermore, he has delved into advanced management techniques for metabolic diseases, focusing on prolonging lifespan. He has also contributed to pharmacovigilance efforts by reporting Adverse Drug Reactions to the WHO’s Uppsala Monitoring Committee in Sweden. His exploration of nano-medicine and nano-technology in patient care, along with community health initiatives incorporating mild exercises and intermittent fasting for senior citizens, highlights his commitment to holistic healthcare approaches.
In addition to his research pursuits, he has made significant strides in the integration of Ayurvedic and Vedic principles into modern medical practices, particularly for genetic-based diseases. His advocacy for reducing drug costs and extending longevity through social initiatives underscores his dedication to improving healthcare accessibility.
His remarkable achievements have been recognized through numerous international and national awards, totaling over 24 international awards and 30 national awards in healthcare and pharmacovigilance. His professional acumen has been sought after by esteemed leaders, as evidenced by his tenure as personal physician to former Prime Minister Shri Chandra Shekhar ji in India and his role as a personal volunteer to coordinate Ayush and modern medicine for Prime Minister Modi ji.
As the head of the Pharmacology department at Saraswati Institute of Medical Science & Research Hospital in Uttar Pradesh for five years, he has imparted his knowledge to undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as research scholars and nursing staff. His teaching encompasses a wide range of subjects, including advanced Ayurveda, medical research methodologies, and artificial intelligence in healthcare management.
Dr. Shukla’s research initiatives extend to the prevention and treatment of various degenerative diseases in geriatric patients, such as Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and dementia, with a focus on Ayurvedic interventions.
