Jyoshna Rani Behera, a passionate educator and mentor, serves as a TGT PCM (Teacher for Physical Science and Mathematics) at G.C.D. (Zilla) High School in Rayagada, Odisha. Her journey comes full circle as she teaches at her alma mater, a place that played a pivotal role in shaping her life. Reflecting on this honor, she once expressed her gratitude in Odia, saying, “Mo school sikhaile aa, mote dakuchhi aa,” signifying her deep connection to the institution and her commitment to giving back. She joined G.C.D. High School in 2004 after completing her B.Sc. B.Ed. Over the past two decades, she has made significant contributions in academics and extracurricular activities. As a science teacher, she has ignited curiosity and innovation in her students, fostering an environment that encourages exploration and learning. Beyond academics, she has inspired students to express themselves creatively by writing stories and poems in Odia, English, and Hindi.
To further nurture creativity, she introduced a wall magazine at the school, providing students with a platform to display their literary and artistic talents. A quiet and introspective student during her own school years, she has gone on to direct numerous school dramas performed at district, zonal, and state levels. She has also mentored students for various literary competitions, helping them secure accolades at different levels. As a District-Level Mathematics Master Trainer, she has shared her expertise with students and teachers alike, contributing to skill development through the “SANKALP” model under the District Resource Group. Her commitment to lifelong learning is evident in her ongoing academic pursuits. She is currently enrolled in dual postgraduate programs—M.Sc. Mathematics at Chandigarh University and M.A. Education at IGNOU. She has also completed several professional courses, such as Transformational Leadership Skills, International Career Coaching (Level 1), and Vedic Mathematics.
Her achievements will be further recognized on November 23, 2024, when she receives an Honorary Doctorate Award from Kennedy University. This honor reflects her dedication to education and community development, solidifying her status as a leader and innovator in her field.
