“Empowering Lives: Prof. Mrs. K.P. Abarna Devi’s Inspiring Odyssey in Nursing Education and Community Service”

Prof. Mrs.K.P. ABARNA DEVI has completed 10th standard in Danish Mission High School, Vridhachalam, South Arcut Dt, Tamilnadu, and studied Higher Secondary in Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Little Kanchipuram, Tamilnadu with High Marks. She has won several prizes in Speech competitions (ORATION), Essay competitions, Dramas, and Singing and Winner in Long Jump and school champion in Tennicoit. She is a Tamil Poet too and received a Special Award of PATTU KUZIL from the Great Poet “SURATHA”.

She completed a BSc Nursing Degree course (4 years) at MADRAS MEDICAL COLLEGE, Chennai in the year 1995. At the college level, she has won prizes in volleyball and has participated in an inter-collegiate cultural programme and won First prize. She is an NCC CADET, & participated in ALL INDIA TREKKING CAMP in the year 1991 from Ooty to Thotabettah. She is an expert in Firing too. She is an active member at STUDENT NURSES ASSOCIATION (SNA). After Under Graduation, she joined as a Nursing Tutor at SRM COLLEGE OF NURSING, Chennai.

She has adopted innovative methods of teaching and learning which were befitted much by the students. Community development activities were organized regularly in the villages of Ramapuram and promoted health awareness, nutritional programmes, environmental sanitation, health camps, blood donation camps, eye camps, dental camps and empowerment activities for youth and women. She is experienced in organizing many international and national conferences and workshops.

She was promoted to Vice-Principal of SRM SCHOOL OF NURSING. She is an SNA Advisor and counsellor of students. She completed her MSc Nursing in the year of 2007 at Omayalachi College of Nursing, Chennai with a Top Rank. She also received appreciation for her Thesis and continued as a Lecturer at SRM College of Nursing. She has also received a LONG SERVICE AWARD from SRM College of Nursing for Long tenure.

Then, she joined SRI SANTHOSHI COLLEGE OF NURSING, Maduranthagam Taluk, Chengelpet in the year 2008 to till date. She has instilled great confidence and managerial effectiveness in the Rural area. She is the Principal of SRI SANTHOSHI SCHOOL AND COLLEGE OF NURSING.

For her tireless dedicated service, she has received the “BEST TEACHER AWARD” from The Tamilnadu Dr M.G.R Medical College by the Honorable State Health Minister of Tamilnadu. She is a Good Motivator and encourages students to shine in Academics, Sports and in Cultural. She is an enthusiastic Moderator for Tamil Debates. She is an active star of Mastering of the ceremony in all programmes. She has been appointed as ad-hoc inspector of the Tamil Nadu Nursing Council of Tamilnadu, the Indian Nursing Council, and The TN Dr MGR Medical University, Board of the member of studies in Sri Balaji College of Nursing, Deemed University, Chennai. At present, she is pursuing her PhD (final year) at Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, Puducherry. She is proud to be an Active member of Alumni -UG &PG. Maintaining Alumni Groups of Sri Santhoshi College of Nursing.
