Dr. HemaMalini B H – Inspiring Transformation through Education

Dr. HemaMalini B H currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at BMS Institute of Technology and Management in Yelahanka, Bengaluru. Despite hailing from a small town named Arsikere in Hassan district, Karnataka, she harbored ambitious aspirations from an early age, striving relentlessly to achieve greater heights in life. With the unwavering support of her brother, she pursued engineering, graduating in 1996, and briefly worked as a software engineer before marriage.

Following her marriage, she recognized the importance of financial independence and transitioned to the teaching profession. Facing numerous challenges, both personally and professionally, she refused to succumb to adversity, determined to forge her path to success. Juggling the responsibilities of a lecturer with additional courses to enhance her qualifications, she persevered through the initial struggles of married life, driven by the desire to provide for her family and avoid disappointing her aging parents.

A significant turning point in her life came with the completion of her M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from BMS College of Engineering in 2005. This achievement instilled in her the confidence to navigate life’s challenges and provide a promising future for her family. Seven years into her marriage, at the age of 34, she was blessed with a daughter, who became a source of immense joy and inspiration.

Her remarkable accomplishments have earned her recognition both nationally and internationally. She was honored with the Teaching Excellence Award at the International Research and Academic Excellence Awards 2021 (IRAEA-2021) in Malaysia for her outstanding contributions to academic excellence. Additionally, she received prestigious national awards such as the Shikshakaratna Puraskaara 2023 and the Global Women Inspiration Awards & Conclave 2023 for her resilience and role model status in the community.

Her dedication to education extends beyond the classroom, as she actively contributes to society by shaping the minds of future engineers. She emphasizes the importance of instilling strong values in her students, believing that education is not just about imparting information but also nurturing ethical and moral principles essential for a healthy society.

In recognition of her noble work and invaluable contributions to education, she has been conferred with esteemed awards such as the Adarsha Vidya Saraswati Rashtriya Puraskar Award and the Best Academician of the Year 2021 Award. Her tireless efforts and unwavering commitment serve as a beacon of inspiration, demonstrating the transformative power of perseverance, dedication, and a steadfast belief in one’s abilities.
