Divya Samvit Rajagopalan, the Head of School at Heartfulness International School, Omega Branch (formerly LMOIS), is a passionate educator and dynamic school leader based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Raised in the city, her upbringing, combined with experiences in various cities across India and abroad, broadened her perspectives and shaped her fulfilling career in education.
Her journey into education began unexpectedly. A simple visit to her son’s school sparked a deep passion for teaching. As she stepped into the classroom, she discovered an unwavering connection to children and a drive to shape their futures. This new purpose has been her guiding light for nearly two decades. She holds a postgraduate degree in English Literature and a Master’s in Advanced Teaching and Secondary Education from the University of the People, California. Her career has been marked by an extensive exploration of diverse pedagogical approaches, including the IB, Cambridge International Education, the British National Curriculum, and the Indian CBSE system. This wide-ranging experience has equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of education and pedagogy.
In addition to her role as a leader, she is an ardent writer. She has authored numerous articles on contemporary education standards and practices, which have been featured in several prominent magazines. Her work on Technological Integration in Schools was even published as part of a textbook for university students at Panjab University, Chandigarh. As part of her involvement with the CBSE Centres of Excellence Training Cell, Divya has had the opportunity to train educators from the Middle East and Africa. She also led discussions on the Teacher Competency Framework for CBSE Schools in India, further demonstrating her expertise and commitment to educational advancement. As Head of School at Heartfulness International School, Omega Branch, she has played a transformative role in student development. Under her leadership, the school has introduced numerous innovative programs, including Model United Nations, alumni initiatives, club activities, career and college counseling, community outreach, and personalized learning plans. These initiatives have significantly enhanced student engagement, academic achievement, and personal growth.
She has championed the integration of 21st-century teaching methodologies and technology, creating a school environment where students are at the heart of the learning process. Outside of her professional life, she is a mother of two grown boys.
