“Dr. Paapa Dasari: A Trailblazer in Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Medical Education”

Dr. Paapa Dasari originates in Kanakalapeta, YANAM, a small village situiated in
Eastcoast, Godavari District.AP. She was born in the family of pure Agriculture to
Mrs Dasari Manikyam (Mother) and Dasari Venkata Reddy (Father). She had her
primary education in the same village and studied in Kamala Nehru Govt. Girls
School, Yanam She was the topper in Yanam region for the year 1975-1976.She
gabbed the maximum prizes in the Youth festival in Academics as well as Sports.
She studied intermediate with Biology as the main subject in STPP Govt. Arts
college in Yanam , and in that also she stood first for the year 1976-
1978.Subsequently she joined MBBS, JIPMER, Puducherry in July 1978.
She has completed he Internship in 1984 , obtained DGO in 1987,
MD (OBGY)N in 1988 from JIPMER, Puducherry and working as faculty since
1995 in the same Institute She was awarded FICOG and Professional Diploma in
Clinical Research in 2010.She obtained Diploma in DM from Johns Hopskins ,
USA and Diploma HIV & AIDS from Galilee, ISRAEL. She is a fellow of
Reproductive Medicine of ICOG.

She has teaching experience of 35 years and is examiner for UG, PG and Post-
doctoral courses in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine of
various Universities and for DNB and FNB under National Board of Examinations.
She has won 12 awards for her Scientific Contributions and has over 200
publications in National and International Journals. Her awards include Dr. CS
DAWN award in 1994, UDILAN Award ,Newzeland 2002, Best Paper award from
Indian Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology 2005, Best paper presentation award
inAICOG, FOGSI 2010, Best paper award in JIPMER Scientific Society, 2011,
Best paper award in Obstetric Medicine 2014, Dr. RD Bisht award 2015, Dr. KD
Nair Award 2017, Best Researcher Award 2021, IFS achiever Award 2022, IFS
SIG Achiver Award 2023,
She has introduced innovative teaching programmes for UGs like Skill
certification in Normal Labour and Cervical Cancer Screening and Basic
Endoscopy Skill Certification, USG Certification and CTG skill Certification
programmes for PGs. She has established HDU as per Govt of India Guidelines
and introduced Birth Companion Policy (RMC) as per LaQshya guidelines, Govt
of India in JIPMER. She is also instrumental in establishing ART services at
JIPMER and successfully delivered the first and second ART babies of JIPMER in
2020. She has keen interest in preventive Oncology and has introduced free HPV-
DNA test and HPV vaccination in JIPMER.
Her areas of research include Preventive Oncology, Maternal and Fetal Medicine
and Reproductive Medicine. She has guided more than 44 postgraduates and some
UGs, PhD students and Post-doctoral fellows in research work. She is peer
Reviwer of many National and International Journals of reputation. Has
international Research collaborations with UK and Australia. She is life member of
many Organizations: IMA, FOGSI, IFS, ISCCP, ISAR, TAPISAR, SSOI, FPSI,
SOMI, AGOICON, IAGE, ACE, IMS, ISOPARB etc. She has been an invited
speaker and Chairperson in National Workshops and Conferences. She is the
founder Secretary of IFS Puducherry Chapter and Founder President Puducherry
Menopause Society.
She wishes to work for the upliftment of girlchildren in villages by supporting their
education and also wants to promote nutritional programmes and vaccination
programmes for keeping them in good health.
