“Empowering Education: The Inspiring Journey of Paramita Sarakar and Shemrock Floret School”

Paramita Sarakar, the Principal and Founder of Shemrock Floret School, began her professional journey in 2006 as a social activist, advocating for the Right to Education and working towards the socio-economic upliftment of marginalized communities. Her focus on ensuring joyful learning and preventing dropouts among 1107 sponsored tribal children from tea gardens underscored her commitment to holistic development.
Despite her academic background in computer science, she pursued a master’s degree in sociology to understand social changes and human behavior. She augmented her knowledge with a Finance Management program from the Reserve Bank of India, a Trainer of Trainers (TOT) certification from Lucknow, and international perspectives on participatory research from the University of Victoria in Canada. Her pursuit of executive management studies from IIM Nagpur exemplified her dedication to continuous learning.
In 2019, she took a significant stride by founding Shemrock Floret School, starting initially with a pre-primary section and later expanding to include a primary section in 2020. Despite facing the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, she provided unwavering online support to students, parents, and teachers. She transformed the virtual platform into a space for shared experiences, ensuring a holistic approach to online classes and maintaining the school’s philosophy.
During the pandemic, Shemrock Floret School emerged as a community hub where students and parents could connect emotionally despite physical distancing. She prioritized strong phonetic concepts and communication skill development, fostering a conducive environment for learning and emotional growth.
Value education is paramount at Shemrock Floret School, where she instills a passion for lifelong learning and emphasizes education as a source of inspiration. The school focuses on a down-to-top approach, prioritizing student needs and fostering a participatory environment.
Paramita’s commitment to teacher training, staff motivation, and positive teamwork has cultivated a sense of ownership among the school’s staff. Her leadership style revolves around external interventionism, guiding the team collaboratively to prioritize student welfare.
Looking ahead, Paramita envisions the expansion of Shemrock Floret School to include higher sections up to grade XII, spanning three acres of land with state-of-the-art facilities. Her vision reflects an unwavering commitment to nurturing young minds and shaping the future of education.
