Dean Dr. B. Sendilkumar: Pioneering Excellence in Allied Health Sciences with Visionary Leadership

Professor Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Dean of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, is in charge of the administration of 13 undergraduate and 13 postgraduate courses in Allied Health Sciences, spanning four campuses situated in Salem, Puducherry, Karaikal, and Chennai.
He serves as the Chairman of the Board of Studies for Allied Health Sciences at Vinayaka Missions Research Foundation, Salem and also holds the position of Head of Transformation for Vinayaka Mission Hospital, Salem. He is a qualified NABH Assessor, CII SR EHS Assessor, Certified Six Sigma Blackbelt in Quality, and is also an ISO Lead Auditor for various ISO Standards. After completing BDS from a renowned Dental College and due to an inclination towards the administrative side, he pursued MBA, MPH, and MPhil in Hospital Health System Management, and further enhanced his skills with an MDP in HM & DA from IIM-Ahmedabad.
His strong passion for academics drove him to attain a PhD in Health Sciences. In recognition to his significant contributions to academia and societal advancements, he has been honoured with a D.Litt and D.Sc With an extensive 23-year career spanning academics and administration, he has amassed an impressive portfolio, including 30 research papers, 10 articles, 17 International and National patents, 2 books, and 4 book chapters. Furthermore, he has been invited as a guest speaker and panellist to around 80 International and National events. Notably, he has organized 65 international and national conferences and conducted over 100 webinars within the institution.
Dr. B. Sendilkumar, a visionary leader and educator, transforms education, fosters research, and empowers students, leaving an indelible mark on healthcare and academia.
He holds several significant positions and memberships, he has been a CII Salem Healthcare Panel Chairperson since January 2023, a member of the Federation of Education Leaders and Administrators since December 2022, a Subcommittee member in the CII Southern Region on Education, Skills & Job Creation, and a member of the CAHO Startup-Tech Committee. Additionally, he serves as the District Sustainability Mentor for schools and villages in Salem under the Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education, Government of India
The 75 prestigious and honorary awards from International and National conclaves serve as evidence of his dedicated efforts toward continuous improvement. With his adept guidance, a Research Center of Excellence and 12 simulation lab centres have been established at the School of Allied Health Sciences, VMRF-DU. This initiative aims to foster an exceptional environment for research and entrepreneurial activities, nurturing a research culture among students and faculty across all departments.
His remarkable contributions extend to uplifting the lives of numerous students, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds. A key strength lies in his profound understanding of the needs of the students, allowing him to strive for excellence in both academics and extracurricular activities. This commitment has led to the improvement of students’ careers and elevated college standards, establishing him as a successful educator and administrator.
